Planning for On-Going Success

Succession planning is a strategy that companies and organization use to ensure the successful continuation of their leadership team. It is the transfer of leadership roles, usually from one generation to another. This allows a business to continue operating at maximum capacity after the most senior people leave or retire. It is also a great way to ensure career progression within an organization and give competent employees an opportunity to move up the leadership ladder. Succession planning usually involves training and an apprenticeship-like work experience that gives employees a taste of what is required at the senior level and management a chance to evaluate these younger employees.
